Like a shiny medal, the label UNESCO World Heritage embellishes heritage sites worldwide, certifying their outstanding universal value for all of humanity. The inscription is mentioned in travel guides, so that no traveller misses out on visiting the closest World Heritage site. But what lies behind the hype? How did the World Heritage programme originally come into being in the 1970s, marking an unprecedented high in international collaboration?

In this workshop you will be introduced to the background of the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage programme and more than that: you will travel the world!
Two teamers of the UNESCO World Heritage qualification programme of the German Commission for UNESCO prepare a digital tour to carefully curated heritage sites, where you have the unique chance to visit every continent in a record-breaking time of three hours.

Back from the trip you will reflect on what has been experienced individually and critically engage with the interrelationships between tourism and World Heritage.
Join us on a journey to discover the digital sphere as an alternative travel format, opening up new routes!
